Dear MTA, Let’s talk money. You don’t know money like I know money. The cost of living has gone up drastically. Everything has gone up but my check. Let’s talk money. You don’t know money like I know money. The cost of living has gone up drastically. Everything has gone up but my check. As hard as I work, I am supposed to be compensated as such. Working on my day off should not be an option in order to make ends meet.
There are conductors and train operators that work an rdo every week. Every week! It’s bad enough that we already spend more time at work than with our families as it is. But in order to meet our basic needs and live comfortably, we will stretch ourselves to the limit.
What I don’t understand is why the conductors and train operators of MTA make less than the conductors and train operators of the LIRR and MNR. We do the same job. We sacrifice the same things. As conductors, we hold the same title across the board. Do the train operators in LIRR and MNR make more because they are titled as Locomotive Engineers?
Do you know why we make less? Do you? Let me tell you why.
Our union is weak! We have a president that has never negotiated a contract in his life. He has left our fate to a governor that gives us nothing. I don’t want him to negotiate my money for me. I DON’T TRUST HIM! He has no interest in it because pockets are already lined with the trappings of holding multiple positions. As hard as we work, we deserve more than that. WE WANT MORE THAN THAT!
I want what’s due to me. I don’t want to be nickled and dimed to death. I don’t want a contract that makes it look like we’re getting something when we’re really not.
When slaves were put on the block, owners would put nicer clothes on slaves and take fat and rub it around their mouth to give the impression that the slaves were living and eating good when they really weren’t. The same applies here.
MTA, you live high on the hog while we get the scraps. You have your bonuses, your big houses, vacation homes, boats, etc. What you have for your family is what I want for mine.
SHOW ME THE MONEY.
NOT THE KIND THAT JINGLES. THE KIND THAT FOLDS.
