Shop Stewards Tool Box: The information TWU Local 100 won’t teach their members.

Shop stewards are the foundation of the Union. It is through them that Union is able to exercise democracy and workers control. Shop stewards are representatives of Union members in workplace.

The steward’s responsibilities, though, are to the union and the members of the collective bargaining unit. As the representative of a labor organization to both management and the members of the union’s local in the workplace, a shop steward works as a facilitator and a mediator.

TWU’s Local 100 shop steward course ran by educational director Nick Bedell is dull at best. A course which run’s for 6 weeks (you only have to attend 4 sessions) barely covers any informative material that prepares the steward for field.

Shop stewards of TWU local 100 without ambition or proper direction from senior elected reps, become nothing more than flier boys/girls when the local is in need of promoting an event.

This attached documents will better educate not only shop stewards, but the membership as a whole.
