I was proud to present T/O Nakia Butler with her Safety Award today at Canarsie! Nakia took a train OOS with a shopping cart on it on the L line a few days ago while withstanding the disrespect from RCC. She stated their own rule to them and held her ground!
It was very commendable what Nakia did and we should all be proud of her because more safety actions like this need to happen around the system! Moving forward, I will be giving out these awards to transit workers who put safety first instead of service!
We can’t keep doing unsafe favors who a company who don’t appreciate us! To be considered for a safety award, I will need some type of report or evidence of the act and either myself or someone from my team will hand deliver it to you personally!
