With MTA workers already behind in wages and struggling to keep up with the cost of living compared to other city agencies, waiting for 5 years top pay will be a struggle. Now imagine not knowing you will reach top pay and the contract states exactly that.

New hires that are apart of the false 5 year wage progression to top pay, it’s time for you all to start paying attention.
There is nothing in the contract that states when you will reach top pay. It’s stops at 5 years 90%. If the MTA decides to exercise what’s in the contract agreement, you will be stuck at 5 years 90% for a very long time. At the end of the day in arbitration the parties are bonded by the direct language in the contract.
WHAT DOES THE CONTRACT ACTUALLY STATE
Below is the actual contract language from the ratification of the 2014 contract. As you can see, there is no language in the contract that states when new employees will reach top pay.
THE SUPERVISORS CONTRACT SAYS 100%
Below is a copy of the supervisors contract that states upon completion of their 5th year they will reach 100% top pay.
